| Antique circa 1825 Micro Mosaic Brooch with gold framing depicting 3 Peasant Musicians.
Approx. 1 1/4 by 1 1/2 inches and weighs 10.7 grams. 14 kt gold framing.
Lavender stone base which is an amzing color.
No missing tesserae and surface as smooth as ice.
First time I have had a Micro Mosaic with 3 figures.
Dressed in Regional Folk costumes makes this piece earlier and rare than the monuments or the doves. Most were based on the engravings of Bartolomeo Pinelli published in Rome
Center male figure is dancing flanked with the women with symbols and castenets.
So detailed.
Front stone has a few small cracks which does not extend into the micro mosaic.
Fabulous piece.
A similar piece with only 2 figures is in the Gilbert Collection.

| Superb quality circa 1850 Micro Mosaic of a Traveling Peasant in Regional Costume set in French 18 Kt gold framing and a small Baroque Pearl drop.
Approx. 1 1/2 inches.
Beautifully constructed.
Micro mosaic in colors of blue and red and green of a Traveling peasant with cane in hand and sitting on a stump. His face is quite good and hr is wearing a hat and jacket.
Tiniest pieces of tesserae and all there!
Framing is of the very best quality . French Hallmarks to the back of the frame and on the pin.
Micro Mosaic is carried into the frame in complimentary colors and design and then a baroque pearl drop is added.
Center gold beads frame the piece.
The paintings of peasants in Regional Costumes were sought after in the early 19th C and the prints of Italian artist Bartolomeo Pinelli were often replicated into the Mosaics. They became a favorite among the French and English tourists ...who tired of the mosaics of ruins.
This is such a piece and condition is fabulous.

Set in oval black onyx...Dog is sitting upon a grassy patch.
Micro mosaic is cut into the tiniest of sand size tesserae and then raised to give the dog a dimentional look.

Standing eagle with wing span standing on what appears to be arrows and surrounded by a laurel wreath. Not sure of the symbolism though it is quite striking.
I particularly like the white and the green against the deep red background.

| Superb Georgian Micro Mosaic plaque depicting a Pompeiian urn housed in a 15 kt gold pendant frame with brooch pin back.

Very early piece based on the subject matter and the fact it is so flat and smooth with the tiniest of tesserae .
This antique subject matter became fashionable once again the the discovery of Pompeii and Paestum in the mid 18th C.
Unique coloring of greens and browns with touched of gold and red.
The trim of black with white dots is quite exceptional.
Framed in gold with a top ring and the back has a clasp.
A similar piece can be seen in the Gilbert Collection of Micromosaics.
A similar piece sold at Christies in 1994 for over 5000 pounds.
One side gold Acanthus leaf is pushed back a bit..hardly noticeable though for a Museum quality item as this I want to make sure it is notated

I saw this piece and gasped! The quality and the beauty is unmatched.
18 kt gold Classical urn with highly carved winged gorgon handle latch.
Covered in the tiniest Micro Mosaic tesserae in lovely blue, red and green and enhanced with gold cannetille style decorations..
Pendant latch a work of art..Very thick gold and covered in the tiniest of tesserae in a blue and white floral design.
6 gold chains hand from the mouth of the urn and each with a single end seed pearl...to simulate water.
And then the urn opens in half to an approx. 1/2 inch opening for a small photo or memento.
Condition is perfect....No missing tesserae
Gold color is sublime...carving is of a master Jeweler.
A similar ...but not as good...micro mosaic urn can be found on page 251 of The Gilbert Collection Micro Mosaics. The piece represents the Variety of Archaeological style jewellery that became quite fashionable in the 19th C. That piece was thought to be from the Castallini firm of Jewelers and this piece could be from the same.

| Superb Early 1800 Micro mosaic plaque of Venus rising from the Sea.....I have never seen this subject before and of this quality.
Approx. 1 1/4 by 1 1 /2 inches.
It looks as if it is after the famous Botticelli painting of Venus. She has a long flowing scarf around her head as her hair blows to the side. She is in a chariot shell that is being drawn by 4 dolphins.
Exquisite with the smallest tesserae imaginable. Flawless..over 200 years old and not a missing piece...no cracks or chips. Perfection.
Exquisitely detailed with the background sea , the red eyes of the dolphins....a plethora of colors.
Edge of piece in a red trim which is indicative of the very early pieces. On cobalt blue stone.
Truly Museum Quality.
With rarity and quality comes price. . A much better investment than the Italian Ruins...and a better value than the $6000. spaniel on Ebay.

Just beautiful with the micro mosaic on wood with back easel. Front is a Venetian scene with St. Marks and a goldola and it looks like you are viewing through a stained glass window. Top and bottom in a Moorish Gothic decoration in terra cotta and brown. Other side is a daisy chain floral.
Overall superb condition with a small chip to white area of top left corner and 2 small cracks to wood glass surround.
So rare to find the Venice depiction

Approx. 8 1/2 inches tall and 4 1/2 inches.
I have never seen such a piece before. Most probably was an early and very high quality Grand Tour Souvenir from Rome.
The stand is approx. 4 inches tall and 3 1/2 inches wide.
Around the base is a Micro mosaic daisy chain in white with gold on a turquoise background.
****Please notice all 3 sides of the stand are made in the form of a two handled urn.****
Each side have a violet floral bouquet at the top,followed by a chain of flowers, a large Medallion of a famous ruin, a dove with sunflower and the bottom in an arrow design.
So intricate and stunning. The center of the stand has a Micro mosaic medallion of the Vatican.
The Ruin medallions are approx. 3/4 inches in diameter and include the Pantheon, The Forum and the Colliseum.
The crystal ball is of the utmost quality and is lovely condition.
I can see no loss to the tiny tesserae.
Stunning and rare.
If you are a Collector of Early Micro Mosaic or Grand Tour this is a must have

The tiniest of tesserae, almost sand size makes up the Micromosaic.
Background color of white with trim of red. Parrot is Amazon green with touches of red and blue. So beautifully portrayed that you can almost feel the ruffle of his feathers. He is setting on a perch with a gold chain to his foot. and his food bowl in front of him.
Lovely face and beak.
The surface is so smooth which is the real indicator of the age.
Very rare subject matter and in very good condition with no missing tesserae.

Roma is on the back of the box. Most probably a very good quality brass with an overlay decoration and sets upon 4 ball feet. A real Show Stopper for any Micro Mosaic Collection.
I see only a small area on the lid at the very bottom of the Vatican where it looks like the columns were not filled in to the bottom. All tesserae are present and no signs of any restroration.

Easel back with ecru satin backing. Mounted on heavy gilt metal and quite substantial.

These are so wearable. They are French wires for pierced ears. Approx. 1 3/4 inches long. Micromosaic round is approx. 1 inch in diameter.
Purchased as at least 18 K gold they have an Etruscan feel with the top gold roundel to a larger roundel with center seed pearl.
The micro mosaic is of the smallest tesserae and beautifully cut. Gold trim with seed pearl. colors of red and white tiles. Center raised cherub with pastel blue wings.
Absolutely charming yet quite elegant. Just put on a little black dress and you will look like a million!
